18/7/03 - smartroof system launched

The smartroof system was launched today when guest of Honour Caroline Spellman cut the ribbon to open the concept house. This is an exciting new opportunity for the roofing of terraced housing. The system has been developed as a result of collaboration between Wolf Systems Ltd, truss manufacturers and builders. smartroof panels are a combination of solid timber beams with a plywood skin nailed at close centres. This incorporates the latest design techniques taking account of the combined timber and plywood panel strength.

The panels span from gable to gable along the roof and can be supported by spandrel panels or normal gable walls. smartroof panels have been designed to take imposed roof loads thereby eliminating the need for purlins and any intrusion into the living space. Roofs are conveniently made up of standard 600 and 1200 modules which can be used at any roof pitch. Custom panels are only required for the eaves, apex and window positions.

With panels up to 5.5 metres long, smartroof is designed to accommodate the most common spans used in low cost social housing projects and starter homes. This not only creates instant room space, but more of it as well. The dry finish, breathable panels comprise of timber structural members with an inner face of ply and an outer weatherproof board. They are very fast to erect with unique interlock sections that allow panels to simply slot together.

Roof truss manufacturers can now compete effectively in the roof panel market with smartroof. The panels are easy to design, quote and manufacture using our fully integrated layout software, which is undergoing beta testing and will be released in August. This product is especially interesting for those already producing wall panels, spandrels or floor cassettes.

 7/5/03 - Easi-Joist arrives

The first shipment of metal web machinery and webs arrived today in two 40ft containers from Felixstowe.

Wolf Systems are working closely with our Multi-Nail partners to provide cost effective and state of the art machinery for metal web production. This coincides with the first release of our beam design software that has been in development by us since last September. This will design individual beams and a fully integrated design and layout package will be available by the end of the year. Technical manuals and Easi-Joist brochures are being developed in co-operation with Multi-Nail and will be available in the coming months.

 17/3/03 - KeyBuild® Timber Frame Software.

We are pleased to advise you of a new timber frame software package, KeyBuild®.

KeyBuild® is written and developed by Keymark Enterprises, LLC. of Boulder, Colorado and is exclusively licensed to Wolf Systems Limited for release in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The software is uniquely based on a structural model which is currently in use in the U.S. A structural version of the UK software is planned after the launch of the initial non-engineered version.

The whole project has been the effort of some 18 months work on specification and development and we now have our marketing, sales and support initiatives in place for initial release.

The timber frame software operation will be managed by Paul Flounders who was appointed in November as General Manager of Keymark Limited. Paul has 18 years experience in the timber engineering industry, as a designer and manager.
