12/08/2004 - Easi-joist beams easily passed the Part E requirement for intermediate floors.

Easi-joist beams easily passed the Part E requirement for intermediate floors. Tests were carried out at The Building Test Centre in August to see whether Easi-joist beams could provide the required 40dB sound reduction without the need for insulation between the joists.

The floor comprised of 22mm chipboard, 219 deep easijoist beams and 15mm standard wallboard. The chipboard was glued and screwed using the NHBC recommended fixing centres.

The test gave a staggering 41db result which shows that easi-joist metal webs floors give the best result of any type of joist system and are ideal for intermediate floor construction.
